Partendo dal principio inequivocabile che la lettura è un bene culturale fondamentale per l’uomo contemporaneo, questo articolo vuole condividere le esperienze del Gruppo Amazzonico di Studi Letterari e Formazione dei Lettori (GELAFOL) dell’Università Federale del Pará (UFPA) nella formazione di mediatori di lettura letteraria. Coordinato dal Prof. Dr. Nilo Carlos Souza, il gruppo ha lavorato per incoraggiare la lettura nelle scuole e per promuovere eventi che riflettono sulla letteratura e sulla lettura. Il libro propone una riflessione sulla necessità (leggere il diritto) alla lettura letteraria nel contesto della regione amazzonica, in particolare nello stato del Pará. In questo senso, abbiamo prima analizzato gli indici ufficiali di lettura in Brasile, evidenziando quelli della Regione del Nord, per riflettere sulla necessità di formare mediatori di lettura. In questo modo, intendiamo indicare i modi per discutere lo sviluppo di azioni volte a superare alcune delle difficoltà individuate nel processo di formazione dei lettori nelle scuole.
