In der klinischen Praxis ist die Unterscheidung zwischen genetisch bedingter und ernährungsbedingter Fettleibigkeit oft nicht eindeutig, was wahrscheinlich darauf zurückzuführen ist, dass es keinen zugänglichen, kostengünstigen Gentest gibt. Aufgrund der Komplexität und des Schweregrads der Adipositas ist es notwendig, die ätiologischen Faktoren zu kennen, um die Patienten einer geeigneten Behandlung zuzuführen. Vor diesem Hintergrund bestand das Ziel dieser Studie darin, phänotypische und molekulare Marker für Adipositas zu identifizieren und die Durchführbarkeit ihrer Verwendung bei der multiprofessionellen Überwachung adipöser Patienten zu bewerten.
