It was freedom at last after Peter boldly took that step and told the men at a breakfast meeting that he no longer accepted that people who don’t believe in Jesus Christ will go to eternal hell. He had been asked to speak at a Christian Men’s Breakfast in Yangon, Myanmar. What they didn’t know was that Peter had been secretly having serious doubts about his Christian religion. The men were shocked and refuted what Peter had said, but thankfully the meeting ended. This meeting was the beginning of a journey to freely research and discover the truth about his religion, leave Christianity and then move on to a new spirituality. I Left Christianity recounts Peter’s journey from his youth to the present and the events, discoveries and experiences that influenced him to leave. And there were the painful repercussions of leaving. Where once Peter was bound to his religion, he now finds freedom to taste and see what others have to say, resulting in respect, love and friendships with people from many faiths and walks of life. Peter identifies the characteristics of a Precious Spirit and defines social equality and equity. He also urges us to respect our nature and the environment. Peter has provided an alternative for those of like mind and a guide so as not to be deceived. Today Peter finds himself connected to a spiritual realm he believes is present throughout the world and can be tapped into by anyone. I left Christianity is for people who: want to find out what happened, who are curious about some of the things Christians believe, are interested in social equality and our environment, and want to research a new spirituality. And for those doubting their beliefs and who need that push to explore for answers.
