Il tema della nostra ricerca è 'Il problema delle dispute fondiarie nelle aree urbane: il caso del primo distretto di N’Djaména (Ciad)'. La scelta di questo tema è stata motivata dalla recrudescenza delle lotte tra i 'Boulamat' e altri attori per questioni fondiarie. Esiste anche un’ampia letteratura sulle questioni fondiarie. In particolare i lavori di (LAMBITAM: 2004, HOUDEINGAR: 2012, MOUPOU et al. 2010, DONG MOUGNOL et al 2010, LEUMAKO NONGNI: 2015, NJOYA NDAM 2021), pochi esplorano l’interferenza dei capi tradizionali nelle lotte per la terra. La domanda che ha guidato la nostra analisi è stata formulata come segue: Come possiamo comprendere e spiegare il fatto che i 'Boulamat', che dovrebbero stabilire la pace e l’armonia tra le popolazioni, siano diventati gli istigatori delle tensioni per la terra? In altre parole, come possiamo spiegare le azioni dei 'Boulamat' in relazione alla terra? Per rispondere a questa domanda, abbiamo formulato la seguente ipotesi: l’aumento delle dispute fondiarie osservato nelle aree urbane del Ciad deriva dalla speculazione fondiaria organizzata dai 'Boulamat'.
