Este libro reúne un conjunto de textos sobre la historia de la educación física y sus cuerpos en el Occidente moderno, un área de producción de conocimiento relativamente poco desarrollada en Uruguay. A su vez, forma parte del trabajo de una serie de redes académicas internacionales construidas en las últimas décadas. El libro nos impulsa a sumergirnos en el complejo escenario cultural de un Uruguay que, de diferentes formas y a través de mecanismos que tendieron a actualizarse, dirigió su atención a la educación del cuerpo de una población en constante trasformación. Este ejercicio historiográfico colectivo no tiene mas pretensiones que evidenciar la necesidad de revisar el proceso a través del cual la educación física uruguaya se nos presenta hoy como un espacio de intervención privilegiado en términos de educación del los cuerpos. 4
