A história sócio-política da África negra pré-colonial ensina-nos a existência de grandes agrupamentos políticos a partir dos quais surgiu a maioria dos Estados pós-coloniais. No caso do Burkina Faso, o poder tradicional esteve na origem da criação de vários agrupamentos políticos, entre os quais os reinos alces de Tenkodogo e Wogdogo (Ouagadougou). A avalanche de publicações sobre estes reinos dá a impressão de que a história dos alces está completa. No entanto, há que admitir que nem toda a região de Moaaga foi submetida ao mesmo escrutínio por parte dos investigadores históricos, com as mesmas intenções e na mesma direção. Exemplo disso é a história incompleta e quase fragmentária da chefia de Lâ, na província do Passoré. No entanto, Lâ era estratégico, primeiro porque foi o local das últimas operações militares de Naaba Wubri, segundo porque foi a primeira capital-residência dos Moog-nanambse, ou seja, dos reis de Wubr-tẽnga (Wogdogo), e terceiro porque esteve na origem da cerimónia da falsa partida comemorada em Ouaga.
