As pessoas idosas correm um maior risco de hipotermia devido às alterações fisiológicas do seu corpo, existem muitos factores de risco que levam a um aumento do risco de ataques de hipotermia nas pessoas idosas, a prevenção da hipotermia é uma questão crítica para todos os enfermeiros de saúde comunitários e a aplicação do modelo de prevenção de três níveis nos cuidados prestados às pessoas idosas em risco de ataques de hipotermia.
