Heterogenität von Schülerinnen und Schülern in der Grundschule ist zu einer zentralen Kategorie von Kindheitsforschung, Grundschulforschung und Grundschulpädagogik geworden. Der Band führt in die Bedeutung kindlicher Heterogenität für die Grundschulpädagogik ein. Er dokumentiert Forschungsergebnisse zur Verschiedenheit von Individuen und ihren sich auf komplexe Weise überschneidenden Zugehörigkeiten zu verschiedenen Gruppierungen. Untersuchungen zu zahlreichen pädagogischen Ansätzen, die auf die Heterogenität reagieren, werden präsentiert. Dazu gehören das gemeinsame Lernen von Kindern mit und ohne Behinderung, interkulturelles Lernen, Arbeit mit heterogenen Lerngruppen im Anfangsunterricht u.a. Untersuchungen zum Kerncurriculum fragen nach der Bedeutung verbindlicher Lerninhalte. Darüber hinaus werden Methoden der Kindheits- und Unterrichtsforschung sowie theoretische Ansätze zur Diskussion gestellt.
