Deze roman speelt zich af in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. De hoofdpersoon, Herr Hartung, komt door de Nazi terreur aan het hoofd van een klein laboratorium te staan. De eigenaar van dat laboratorium, een Duitse Jood, moet vluchten om zich te redden. In het laboratorium wordt onder andere geëxperimenteerd met bacteriën. Juist die experimenten ziet Herr Hartung als een punt om zijn mogelijkheden te ontwikkelen. Hij begint voor de SS en werkt met antrax en tyfus. Experimenteert daarmee op proefkonijnen die hij uit een concentratiekamp haalt en schroomt daar niet bij die mensen onder helse omstandigheden te laten sterven. Naar mate de strijd vordert keren de kansen in de oorlog. Met behulp van een van zijn ondergeschikten werkt hij aan een plan om weg te komen uit het tot ondergang gedoemde Duitsland. Hiervoor zijn heel wat intriges nodig maar uiteindelijk slaagt hij, alweer ten koste van heel wat doden, in zijn boosaardige opzet. Meer: www.AAABoeken.nl
