Aufgrund des schwierigen Diagnoseprozesses, des umstrittenen Managements und der unklaren Endziele kann die Toxikologie als ein separates beschreibendes und empirisches Gebiet fungieren. Bevor gesicherte Daten zur Verfügung stehen, sollten viele tödliche Expositionen so schnell wie möglich diagnostiziert und behandelt werden. Studenten im Grundstudium der Labortechnik, die bei der Behandlung vergifteter Patienten mitwirken, werden sich vor allem von diesen Toxikologie-Vorlesungsunterlagen inspirieren lassen. Es kann jedoch auch für andere medizinische Fachleute, die sich mit verwandten Themen befassen, von Belang sein. Die Gliederung des Buches ermöglicht es, wichtige Informationen besonders schnell zu erfassen.
