Migration ist ein komplexes soziales Phänomen. Daher ist es wichtig, die haitianische Migrationsbewegung nach Brasilien zu untersuchen, die seit 2010 das Gebiet von Acre als Tor zum Rest des Landes nutzt. Der haitianische Migrationsstrom nach Brasilien ist etwas Neues. Verstehen wir also, warum die Haitianer den illegalen Weg nach Brasilien gewählt haben und warum sie Acre als Route gewählt haben. Acre liegt weit entfernt von den großen Wirtschaftszentren des Landes. Liegt es an der einfachen Einreise an der Grenze? Einfacher Zugang zu Dokumenten für die Legalisierung? Eine Route ohne große Überwachung? Dieser Prozess begann kurz nach dem Erdbeben, das Haiti heftig erschütterte. Die Katastrophe kostete etwa 223.000 Menschen das Leben und ließ 1,5 Millionen Menschen ohne Bleibe. Ziel dieses Buches ist es daher, die Erklärungsfaktoren für die jüngste Migration von Haitianern nach Brasilien über den Bundesstaat Acre zu analysieren.
