Die Ergebnisse einer Befragung von Stadtbewohnern aus der Mehrheitsbevölkerung in Berlin und Oslo zu Wahrnehmungen und Bewertungen von Stadtgebieten legen die Annahme nahe, dass Mehrheitsangehörige nach Möglichkeit Wohnorte vermeiden, an denen (zu viele) Migranten wohnen. Bezug nehmend auf die theoretischen und konzeptionellen Grundlagen der Stadt- und Ethnizitätsforschung weist die Autorin auf die Notwendigkeit hin, die Bedeutung von ethnischen Grenzziehungen für sozialräumliche Strukturen breiter als bislang üblich zur Diskussion zu stellen: Beim Auftreten von ethnischer Segregation ist auch die Mehrheitsbevölkerung als eine ethnische Gruppe zu betrachten.
