Les relations intergouvernementales (RIG) sont essentielles à l’efficacité et à l’efficience des services fournis par les gouvernements, car elles constituent une composante importante de tout système politique comportant plus d’un niveau de gouvernement. L’objectif général de l’étude était d’examiner le rôle des RIG sur la prestation de services dans les systèmes de gouvernance à plusieurs niveaux dans les comtés du Kenya. Les objectifs spécifiques étaient les suivants : établir le rôle des relations administratives, des relations fiscales, des relations politiques et des relations économiques sur la prestation de services dans les comtés du Kenya ; et établir l’effet modérateur de la participation publique sur la relation entre les relations intergouvernementales et la prestation de services. Les résultats ont révélé que toutes les relations intergouvernementales avaient une relation positive et significative avec la prestation de services des gouvernements de comté au Kenya, la participation publique ayant un effet modérateur positif et significatif. Il a été conclu que les RIG avaient le potentiel d’influencer positivement la prestation de services et il a donc été recommandé que les gouvernements nationaux et de comté adoptent une approche multidimensionnelle dans la mise en œuvre des RIG pour la prestation de services.
