Le zinc, essentiel dans l’industrie des métaux non ferreux pour des applications comme la galvanisation et les circuits électroniques, est extrait par pyrométallurgie ou hydrométallurgie. Ce dernier procédé, après grillage de la blende, implique une lixiviation acide (H₂SO₄) pour solubiliser le zinc en ZnSO₄, suivi d’un dépôt électrolytique pour obtenir du zinc purifié. Cependant, ce procédé atteint un taux d’extraction limité à 90 %, laissant des résidus solides riches en ferrites métalliques (26 % de fer, 21 % de zinc).Le projet vise à extraire le zinc de ces résidus par lixiviation acide et précipitation du fer sous forme de goethite, valorisée en hématite, un pigment précieux. L’extraction acide a récupéré 12-14 % de zinc, tandis que la méthode goethite a atteint un taux de récupération de 19,43 % avec une extraction de 91,43 %. La transformation finale en hématite, confirmée par des analyses (diffraction X et IR), a produit un pigment industriel conforme aux standards de recherche.
