O estudo de investigação intitulado 'Género em Pedagogia das Ciências Naturais', realizado em 2016, revela uma variedade de estereótipos baseados no género existentes nas salas de aula de ciências e nas áreas STEM que influenciam as escolhas profissionais dos estudantes a longo prazo. Foi feita uma tentativa de examinar como a pedagogia que compreende os métodos de ensino utilizados pelos professores de ciências influencia as escolhas disciplinares dos alunos e como as percepções dos professores estão a reforçar os estereótipos baseados no género dentro dos laboratórios e das salas de aula. Este estudo investiga se o género do professor afecta as taxas de participação entre raparigas e rapazes. Também se concentra em várias razões que afetam as taxas de participação das meninas nos campos STEM. Apresentei resultados misturando os resultados quantitativos e qualitativos. Examinei vários motivos emergentes dos temas e do conjunto de dados para explorar os níveis e diferenças das interações sociológicas que ocorrem dentro das salas de aula de ciências, nos laboratórios, nas escolas e nas carreiras relacionadas às áreas STEM, especialmente em engenharia e tecnologia. Osresultados indicam o forte papel do gênero quando se trata da pedagogia das ciências naturais em ambientes de sala de aula.
