Die Demokratische Republik Kongo hat wirtschaftliche und sicherheitspolitische Störungen erlebt, bis sie vom US-Büro für Handelsfragen 2014 als 'sehr schwieriges Geschäftsklima' bezeichnet wurde. Und dennoch: Seit 2009 hat es im Rahmen der Verbesserung des Geschäfts- und Investitionsklimas ein umfassendes Reformprogramm eingeleitet, um im 'Doing Business'-Bericht einen Spitzenplatz zu belegen. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, dem Leser eine kurze Entschlüsselung der Entwicklung des Geschäftsumfelds in der Demokratischen Republik Kongo von 2003 bis 2020 zu liefern. Durch eine statistische Analyse der Sekundärdaten aus den Datenbanken der Weltbank, des Plan-, Haushalts-, Finanz- und Wirtschaftsministeriums; die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich in sechs von zehn bewerteten Bereichen die Indikatoren deutlich verbessert haben. Dennoch liegen noch enorme Herausforderungen vor den kongolesischen Behörden im Hinblick auf die Nachhaltigkeit der verabschiedeten Reformen und den Forschern bei der Untersuchung der Wirksamkeit der verabschiedeten Reformen unter Berücksichtigung der aktuellen Herausforderungen der Globalisierung und der Digitalisierung.
