La tubercolosi rappresenta la seconda causa principale di morbilità e mortalità significative dovute a malattie infettive a livello mondiale, dopo il virus dell’immunodeficienza umana (HIV). L’obiettivo di questo studio era determinare l’epidemiologia molecolare e le caratteristiche genetiche del Mycobacterium tuberculosis direttamente dai campioni di espettorato. Per lo studio della popolazione affetta da tubercolosi in questo lavoro sono stati utilizzati test di genotipizzazione TaqMan dei polimorfismi a singolo nucleotide (SNP), insieme ai dati demografici dei pazienti.
