The estimation of genetic parameters in animal production is a valuable tool designed to predict the genetic value of each animal in the herd and, consequently, the expected gain in each generation, with higher yields compared to previous generations. It predicts heterosis, or hybrid vigour, which is the genetic variability that can be achieved with each mating, thereby optimising animal performance.
