Este trabajo resume un Proyecto específico desarrollado, para Colombia, abundante en carbón pero limitado en Gas. El país está enfrentado a dos situaciones que repercuten en la vida social y económica que requieren soluciones inmediatas. a)Importador del 97.5% de los Nitrogenados que consume. b) Crisis de generación eléctrica en épocas de sequía. De la capacidad de generación eléctrica instalada el 70.41% es Hidráulica el 10.85% con Gas y sólo el 7.56% con carbón, recurso barato con unas reservas probadas de 180 años. De las 560.000 ton/año de Urea importada (Nitrogenado) cerca del 40% es proveniente de China donde se produce con carbón principalmente. Producir Urea en Colombia base carbón, es un proyecto técnica, económica y ambientalmente factible.
