A doença inflamatória intestinal (DII) compreende um espectro de doenças que se caracterizam por uma inflamação crônica do trato gastrointestinal sem uma causa ou patógeno específico. A gabapentina (GBP) é um fármaco anticonvulsivante, mas estudos prévios mostram que ela é eficiente em reduzir danos inflamatórios gástricos e diminuir o processo inflamatório agudo. Durante as colites há aumento de substâncias que atuam na via dos endocanabinóides, que são importantes para a proteção do cólon durante o desenvolvimento do processo inflamatório intestinal. Assim, este trabalho objetiva analisar o efeito anti-inflamatório da GBP na colite induzida por ácido acético (AA) em camundongos e observar se este mecanismo de ação se dá pela via farmacológica dos endocanabinóides.Os resultados mostram que o AA foi eficaz em induzir a retocolite ulcerativa (RCU); que a GBP reduz a inflamação no cólon causada pelo AA, porém, seu efeito é provavelmente independente da via dos receptores endocanabinóides, não sendo estes envolvidos na redução do efeito inflamatório da RCU induzida experimentalmente, mostrando que esta via não representa uma alternativa terapêutica promissora para pacientes com RCU.
