Entering the 21st century has placed cities at the core of scientific, economic, social, and cultural transformations. The concepts of 'urban future' and 'future city' represent two interconnected yet distinct perspectives that shape modern concerns about urbanization. On the one hand, the urban future is marked by uncertainty and rapid changes; on the other, the vision of the future city is shaped by predictions, aspirations, and human ambitions to build a better life.Urbanization has expanded at an unprecedented rate in recent decades, with more than half of the world’s population now residing in cities-a figure that continues to rise. This phenomenon has generated opportunities for economic growth, innovation, and cultural exchange, yet also introduced challenges in environmental sustainability, social equity, infrastructure management, transportation, housing, and overall quality of life.The trajectory of urban futures is dependent on our ability to understand and respond to emerging trends, including technological advancements, environmental sustainability, climate change, and social development.
