Su objetivo es conocer la génesis de las diferentes Escuelas de Psicología, teniendo en cuenta sus antecedentes, principales representantes, la influencia entre ellas y el contexto histórico, y sus principales aportes al desarrollo de la psicología como ciencia.Se pretende brindar un marco de referencia a partir del cual la persona interesada (ej. estudiante de psicología, investigador o persona sin conocimientos en el área) desarrolle una visión integradora de la ciencia psicológica y sus principales fundamentos. Se ofrecen elementos para comprender los procesos que marcaron el surgimiento de la Psicología como disciplina científica autónoma a fines del siglo XIX y sus desarrollos en el pensamiento psicológico contemporáneo.
