From Omega to Alpha invites painters to stop controlling the brush and start listening to it. Working from her own reference photographs - the 'Alpha' - fine artist Ruthie Windsor-Mann shows exactly how a finished painting, the 'Omega,' can end up looking nothing like where it began, and why that’s the whole point. Chapter by chapter, she walks through the deprogramming every carefully trained painter needs: releasing the photograph, releasing the plan, releasing the need to be right. This expanded Second Edition adds two new chapters - including 'The Omega Mind,' written during a month-long solo painting residency in the south of France - along with new paintings, new before-and-after photograph pairings, and QR codes linking to Windsor-Mann’s process videos. Part memoir, part instruction, part permission slip, From Omega to Alpha is for any painter ready to trust the process and surrender control.
