Questo lavoro presenta la ricerca sviluppata durante il corso di specializzazione in Arti, indirizzo Patrimonio Culturale, dell’Università Federale di Pelotas, con l’obiettivo principale di conoscere per preservare il patrimonio industriale di Pelotas, attraverso il caso di studio della Laneira Brasileira S.A., ex lanificio, acquisito dall’Università Federale di Pelotas nel 2010. Il lavoro è stato strutturato in due capitoli, ciascuno con due sottocapitoli. Il primo, intitolato Conoscere, è stato suddiviso in Conoscere il patrimonio industriale e La Laneira Brasileira S.A. e si è basato su ricerche bibliografiche, documentali e orali. Il secondo, denominato Preservare, è stato suddiviso in due parti: Proposta di gestione e Proposta di intervento. La prima parte tratta delle linee guida legali sia per il patrimonio industriale della città nel suo complesso, sia per il caso specifico della Laneira, mentre il secondo riguardava le linee guida tecniche per gli interventi su tali beni, basate sulle raccomandazioni della Carta di Nizhny Tagil, sui teorici del restauro BRANDI e RIEGL e sul concetto di 'museo-casa' di CHAGAS.
