Die Heilpflanzen sind in vielen Regionen und unter verschiedenen Bedingungen zu finden. Einige sind selten, andere sehr häufig. Bestimmte Pflanzen, die sehr häufig vorkommen, leicht verfügbar sind und leicht angebaut werden können, werden von vielen Menschen im täglichen Leben verwendet. Die Pflanzen werden auch täglich von Menschen als Nahrungsquelle konsumiert. Zwei dieser Nahrungsmittel sind M. koenigii und A. racemosus, die einen hohen medizinischen Wert besitzen. M.koenigii ist gemeinhin als Curryblätter bekannt. Es kommt natürlich in Indien, Sri Lanka und anderen südasiatischen Ländern vor. Es ist aromatisch und besitzt einen starken, untypischen Geruch. Traditionell werden die Blätter von M. koenigii zur Behandlung verschiedener Beschwerden verwendet.
