Questo studio si concentra sulla formulazione e sulla valutazione di uno shampoo antiforfora a base di erbe che utilizza l’estratto di foglie di tamarindo e l’estratto di acqua di riso come ingredienti naturali principali. La forfora, nota anche come pitiriasi capitis, è un disturbo del cuoio capelluto molto diffuso che colpisce più della metà della popolazione mondiale in una fase o nell’altra della vita. È caratterizzata da un’eccessiva desquamazione delle cellule cutanee morte, prurito, irritazione e, talvolta, arrossamento. Sebbene la sua causa esatta non sia del tutto chiara, fattori quali la proliferazione del fungo Malassezia, l’aumentata attività delle ghiandole sebacee e le risposte immunitarie svolgono un ruolo fondamentale. Gli shampoo antiforfora convenzionali contengono tipicamente agenti sintetici come il ketoconazolo, il solfuro di selenio e il piritionato di zinco. Pur essendo efficaci, questi prodotti causano spesso effetti collaterali quali secchezza del cuoio capelluto, irritazione, danni ai capelli e preoccupazioni di natura ambientale. Ciò ha portato a un crescente interesse per formulazioni a base di erbe che siano più sicure, ecocompatibili e che forniscano ulteriori benefici nutrizionali al cuoio capelluto e ai capelli. Il presente studio mira a sviluppare uno shampoo naturale sfruttando le proprietà bioattive delle foglie di Tamarindus indica e dell’acqua di riso.
