Cette recherche part de la problématique du faible niveau de performance des PME béninoises, souvent lié à l’absence de procédures de gestion formalisées. Pour y répondre, une approche quantitative a été adoptée à travers un modèle de régression linéaire multiple. Les données proviennent d’une enquête réalisée par l’INStaD auprès de 3 430 entreprises. Les résultats indiquent que la formalisation exerce un effet positif et hautement significatif sur la croissance du chiffre d’affaires. De plus, l’âge et le niveau d’instruction du dirigeant ainsi que l’implantation en milieu urbain apparaissent comme des déterminants essentiels de la performance.Mots clés : Formalisation des PME, Performance financière et Croissance des PME.
