Birds are the most specialized group among vertebrates, since most of their organisms have undergone modifications that have allowed them to conquer the aerial environment. For Cuba, 405 species of wild birds are currently reported, which represent 62 percent of all the species of the Antillean subregion. In various places in Cuba, research has been carried out on the bird communities present, but these studies, although they provide information on the presence or absence of species, because they do not offer quantitative data on abundance and are based on different sampling protocols, they present limitations for their use in the management of populations and the establishment of priorities for conservation. However, to date there is no scientific information about the structure and composition of the bird community present in the wooded area of the witness mountain Loma de Gabino, Guayos.
