Das Buch „Folkloristische Traditionen im Werk von W. I. Dal' widmet sich der Untersuchung des Einflusses der Folklore der Ural-Kosaken, Kasachen und Baschkiren auf das Schaffen des russischen Schriftstellers und Ethnographen. Der Autor vergleicht das Werk mit folkloristischen Quellen und stellt erstmals einen Vergleich mit dem kasachischen Epos an. Im „Erklärenden Wörterbuch der lebenden großrussischen Sprache' fand der Autor Elemente von Volkskunstwerken, die er in Westkasachstan gehört hatte. Die Volkstraditionen werden vom Autor vielschichtig betrachtet. In der Erzählung „Bikej und Mauljana' schafft W. I. Dal ein episches Bild, in der Erzählung ‚Maina’ verwendet er Volkshumor, in der Skizze „Uraler Kosake' betont er die soziale Stellung der Helden und schafft lyrische Bilder. „Die baschkirische Nixe' basiert auf einer Volkslegende. Der Autor betont, dass die Folklore der Kosaken, Kasachen und Baschkiren dem Schriftsteller geholfen hat, originelle Werke zu schaffen. W. I. Dal hat das Volksbild der Welt vollständig übernommen. Der Einfluss der Kultur des Uralvorlandes auf sein Schaffen und Wirken ist enorm.
