Ce livre cherche à explorer deux éléments majeurs de l’identité, la foi et le handicap, et à comprendre la relation entre eux pour les personnes handicapées qui sont chrétiennes. Une analyse approfondie de la littérature a été entreprise et neuf personnes (huit femmes et un homme souffrant de divers handicaps physiques et sensoriels) ont été interrogées dans le but d’explorer la question principale de la recherche: Comment l’adoption de la foi chrétienne influence-t-elle la vie des personnes qui s’identifient comme handicapées en Grande-Bretagne au 21e siècle ? En tant que chrétien et personne handicapée, ce domaine de recherche était personnellement pertinent et intéressant. Les thèmes du réconfort, de la confusion et du conflit sont ressortis de l’analyse documentaire et ont été cohérents avec l’analyse des entretiens. L’analyse a été organisée en fonction des sous-questions de la recherche. Celles-ci portent sur l’identité, l’interprétation biblique et la vie avec une déficience. Cette recherche a permis de dégager des domaines passionnants pour la poursuite de la recherche. Par exemple, la nécessité d’explorer les liens entre les voyages des chrétiens et l’expérience de la déficience.
