El Pectum excavatum es la malformación congénita de la pared torácica anterior más frecuente y se presenta entre un 90 y 92%. Se define como una depresión del esternón con exteriorización de los cartílagos costales más caudales, dando un aspecto de tórax en embudo. En México, se presenta en 1 de cada 1,000 nacidos vivos. Esta malformación congénita, puede estar asociada a trastornos congénitos del tejido conectivo en un 30 a 40% como el Síndrome de Down. Es necesario hacer visibles las necesidades de atención desde el ámbito de Fisioterapia Pulmonar en este tipo de población.
