Distúrbios testiculares, como cancro e torção, representam um sério desafio à saúde de homens jovens, e o autoexame testicular (ATE) é recomendado para sua detecção precoce e tratamento. No entanto, estudos relacionados à percepção e adoção do ATE entre estudantes universitários não são comuns na Nigéria. Portanto, este estudo foi elaborado para avaliar o conhecimento, as percepções e a prática do ATE entre estudantes universitários do sexo masculino da Universidade Babcock, em Ilisan-Remo, no estado de Ogun. A pesquisa envolveu o uso de uma técnica de amostragem aleatória em três etapas para selecionar 500 respondentes do sexo masculino nas quatro faculdades da universidade. Foram realizadas seis discussões em grupo focado (FGDs). Um questionário validado foi usado para coletar dados quantitativos. A análise dos dados quantitativos foi feita usando estatísticas descritivas, qui-quadrado e ANOVA, enquanto os dados das FGDs gravados e transcritos foram submetidos a uma análise de conteúdo.
