Der Inhalt dieses Buches befasst sich in erster Linie mit Materialprüfungen und -analysen. Die für die Prüfungen ausgewählten Proben sind von archäologischer Bedeutung, während die zu ihrer Bewertung verwendeten Techniken Standardverfahren der technischen Prüfung sind, die für Forschungs- und Industrieanwendungen eingesetzt werden, d. h. Röntgendiffraktometrie, Röntgenfluoreszenzspektrometrie, Verbrennungsanalyse, kombinierte thermogravimetrische und differentielle thermische Analyse sowie Radioisotopen- und Lumineszenz-Datierungsverfahren. Das Buch ist in zwei Kapitel unterteilt. Jedes Kapitel präsentiert eine vollständige Fallstudie. Die Proben wurden an zwei verschiedenen Standorten in Pakistan gesammelt. Die Fallstudien wurden in den Jahren 2009-2012 entwickelt und die Tests wurden vollständig in Pakistan durchgeführt.
