Diese Fallstudie soll einen Überblick über die Bananenindustrie geben, einschließlich ihrer wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und ökologischen Auswirkungen. Zunächst werden wir die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der Bananen untersuchen. Die Bananenindustrie ist eine wichtige Einkommensquelle für viele Länder in den tropischen Regionen der Welt, darunter Ecuador, Costa Rica und die Philippinen. Im Jahr 2019 wurde der Weltmarkt für Bananen auf über 44 Milliarden US-Dollar geschätzt, wobei der Großteil der Bananen von Kleinbauern produziert wird.
