Jahrhunderts in der Führung gemeinsamer, militärischer Einsätze der Mitgliedsstaaten entgegensieht.Über der politischen Problematik der Kompetenzverteilung und den praktischen Aspekten militärischen Handwerkes hinsichtlich dieser Entwicklung stehen die im Folgenden aus dem juristischen Blickwinkel heraus zu betrachtenden, rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen am konkreten Fallbeispiel der nach einer griechischen Sagengestalt benannten ATALANTA-Mission der Europäischen Union zum Schutz der Schifffahrtswege am Horn von Afrika. Die Bedeutung dieser Normen für die praktische Umsetzung jener Regelungen im Einklang mit nationalen Vorgaben, insbesondere mit Blick auf die künftige Gestaltung des Engagements der Gemeinschaft sollen in dieser Arbeit thematisiert werden.
