Les structures utilisées dans le secteur offshore, telles que les navires et les plateformes, sont conçues pour résister à une grande variété de contraintes tout en restant intactes et, surtout, sûres. Afin de répondre à ces besoins plus longtemps, la maintenance effectuée sur ces structures doit maintenir les propriétés mécaniques requises. Le soudage humide avec électrodes enrobées (SMER) a été largement utilisé en raison de son faible coût par rapport à d’autres procédés, de sa polyvalence dans le travail et du fait qu’il permet déjà d’obtenir des résultats de bonne qualité. L’un des principaux problèmes est la perte de ductilité dans les régions chauffées adjacentes à la soudure ou à la zone thermiquement affectée (ZTA), car le refroidissement rapide inhérent au procédé par voie humide génère une microstructure d’une grande dureté et d’une faible ténacité. Ce travail étudiera les techniques de 'meulage du renforcement à chaque passe' et 'd’inversion de la direction de soudage' afin d’améliorer la dureté des soudures humides multipasses.
