O presente estudo teve como objetivo a realização de estudos de docking molecular de inibidores conhecidos da proteína MAO para compreender as interações de ligação entre o inibidor e a enzima a nível molecular. Todos os candidatos da base de dados foram selecionados como potenciais candidatos contra a enzima MAO -B. Foi observada uma diversidade estrutural nos compostos. A elevada afinidade do ligando Befloxatone é atribuída às suas quatro interações de ligação no sítio ativo da proteína. E outros compostos também apresentam uma boa energia de ligação. Assim, os sucessos obtidos podem ser tratados como boas pistas para a conceção de inibidores potentes da enzima MAO-B, que se encontra mais frequentemente expressa nos doentes de Parkinson.
