Pytanie brzmi: jeśli zło „nie spada z nieba', jeśli nie jest więc dane przez Boga, dlaczego zwolennicy IS są tak brutalni? Albo są naprawdę szaleni, albo trzeba ich postrzegać i definiować w inny sposób. Gdyby byli szaleni, według Schopenhauera byliby nieokiełznanymi, dzikimi zwierzętami. Nie powinniśmy ich osądzać moralnie. To, co robi IS, jest zgodne z jego wyobrażeniami religijnymi. Jego zwolennicy wierzą w Boga i nazywają swoje działania „posłuszeństwem wobec Boga'. W ten sposób, poprzez swoją brutalność, wierzą, że wykonują rozkaz swojego Boga. Jednak w Koranie nie ma jasnego miejsca, które pozwalałoby muzułmanom lub wierzącym zabijać i torturować w imię Boga.
