Na África Ocidental, a governação da migração infantil está dividida entre a abordagem do tráfico e a abordagem da mobilidade. O objetivo desta investigação é mostrar a importância da abordagem da mobilidade na gestão das crianças migrantes, porque durante muito tempo a abordagem do tráfico foi vista como a abordagem ideal, apesar de esta última criminalizar indiscriminadamente todos os movimentos migratórios de crianças. Os dados foram recolhidos através de pesquisa documental, entrevistas semi-estruturadas e observações diretas no terreno. Os dados foram depois transcritos e codificados para classificação temática utilizando CSPro, analisados utilizando SPSS e Excel, e mapeados utilizando Arc GIS. O alvo desta investigação são as crianças migrantes na comuna de Grand-Popo. Os resultados mostram que a migração das crianças é frequentemente uma opção pessoal e nem sempre é forçada por um adulto. A abordagem da mobilidade, que inclui e tem em conta os factores de migração, é, portanto, uma escolha sensata.
