Este estudo investigou e analisou os factores de como as relações positivas entre alunos e professores, centradas nos ensinamentos do Círculo de Coragem, podem ajudar a envolver os nossos alunos aborígenes em dificuldades. Esta questão de investigação foi provocada pelas baixas taxas de sucesso e de envolvimento dos alunos aborígenes nas Escolas Públicas de Nanaimo Ladysmith (NLPS) e em toda a província de B.C., em comparação com os seus homólogos não aborígenes. Algumas das razões para os resultados mais baixos e a falta de empenhamento são causadas pelas lutas que o povo aborígene do Canadá enfrentou e continua a enfrentar, como a colonização, as escolas residenciais e o racismo da cultura dominante.
