Dieses Buch bietet daher eine optimale Methode zur Entwicklung eines Landinformationssystems unter Verwendung von freier und Open-Source-Softwaretechnologie (FOSS). Daher wird die Anwendung von FOSS, insbesondere UMN Map Server, untersucht. Ein Prototyp wurde entwickelt. Das System ermöglicht es Benutzern, über das Internet auf räumliche Informationen zur städtischen Landnutzung zuzugreifen. Für Entscheidungsträger ist es von entscheidender Bedeutung, Informationen rechtzeitig und effizient zu erhalten, Analysen durchzuführen und den Entscheidungsprozess zu verkürzen. Darüber hinaus können Forscher, Planer, Investoren und potenzielle Nutzer Online-Informationen abrufen, wodurch die mit bestehenden Methoden verbundenen Kosten und der Zeitaufwand erheblich reduziert werden.
