Dabei wird zu Beginn ein allgemeiner Überblick über die Bedeutung des Binnentourismus für die deutsche Wirtschaft gegeben, und es werden grundlegende Begriffe und Definitionen erklärt. Im Hauptteil der Arbeit werden zunächst die Entwicklung des Binnentourismus in der BRD sowie in der DDR von 1945 bis zur Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands im Jahr 1990 vorgestellt, um anschließend die gemeinsame Entwicklung nach der Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands sowie aktuelle Entwicklungen im Binnentourismus aufzuzeigen. Der Schlussteil stellt in einer kurzen Zusammenfassung die Entwicklung des Binnentourismus in Deutschland dar, gibt einen Ausblick in die Zukunft und zeigt mögliche Tendenzen und Entwicklungen des deutschen Binnentourismus.
