This book contains 21 research papers, one review and one editorial focusing on studies in the field of electric power systems research in 2016. These 23 published papers can be classified into five categories: generation systems; transmission systems; distribution systems; end-users; and the power market. Among these, the subjects of generation and distribution systems has caused the most concern due to the realization of smart grids. Papers presented in this book cover research, the development of new procedures or components, an original application of existing knowledge, or new design approaches. The authors of the published articles are from a variety of Asian, North American, and European countries. This book shows that authors in China are the most active and their research covers all of the above-mentioned areas.

    John M. Miller
Worldwide, the automotive industry is being challenged to make dramatic improvements in vehicle fuel economy. In Europe there are CO2 emissions penalties prorated by the degree to which vehicles exceed mandated CO2 levels. In the United States, vehicle fuel economy targets set by Congress in 2007 for 20 per cent fuel economy improvement by 2020 are now being accelerated by the ...
  • Scenarios for a Future Electricity Supply
    Gregor Czisch
This book pursues the fundamental idea of using renewable energies in a rational and economic way in order to develop a climate-friendly electricity supply. As the most cost efficient solution, an electricity network for the whole of Europe and parts of Africa and Asia must be found. The sources of renewable and partly decentralised electricity generation could be connected in ...
  • Eigenstructure Control Algorithms
    S. Srinathkumar
Eigenstructure control involves modification of both the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a system using feedback. Based on this key concept, algorithms are derived for the design of control systems using controller structures such as state feedback, output feedback, observer-based dynamic feedback, implicit and explicit modelfollowing, etc. The simple-to-use algorithms are well...
  • Advances in Power System Modelling, Control and Stability Analysis
    Federico Milano
Advances in Power System Modelling, Control and Stability Analysis captures the variety of new methodologies and technologies that are changing the way modern electric power systems are modelled, simulated and operated. The book is divided into three parts. Part 1 presents research works on power system modelling and includes applications of telegrapher equations, power flow ana...
  • Communication, Control and Security Challenges for the Smart Grid
    S.M. Muyeen
The Smart Grid is a modern electricity grid allowing for distributed, renewable intermittent generation, partly owned by consumers. This requires advanced control and communication technologies in order to provide high quality power supply and secure generation, transmission and distribution. This book outlines these emerging technologies.Topics covered include an introduction ...
