Eldred Hill is near Spring Creek in Warren County, Pennsylvania. It was settled in the early 1800s like much of northwestern Pennsylvania, with farms of about 100 acres in which the timber had to be cut down to establish each farm. Families worked on this land for several generations before the time of small farms passed; by the 1960s the most farms were sold off or abandoned.Florence E. Little-Tripp (1903-1994) wrote this book after compiling over 20 years of notes on the genealogies of the families on Eldred Hill. It takes us from the original settlers on Eldred hill in the mid-1800s to 1976. Some of those families’ names include Wilcox, Jaquith, Rickerson, Greeley, Ellis, Jewell, Measor, Little, Beemus, Miles, Baker, Pitt, Johnson, Eldred, Stranaghan, and Porter. Her work shows us how fast and far families can grow in 125 years. She also includes information about the Spring Creek Band and the Blue Eye Skimming Station.Florence spent her first 15 years on Eldred hill working the Little family farm. She details the life on the farm in the early 1900s in her chapter, 'The Hill I Knew.' We go through the daily life on the farm and the seasonal events of husking bees, dances, and maple syrup parties. She was a well-known local artist and included 35 drawings which she drew of the farms on Eldred Hill and the buildings in Spring Creek.

To-day she sees her ancient principles vanishing one by one. ...
