En 1697, las tropas francesas de Luis XIV, el Rey Sol, se apoderan a sangre y fuego de Cataluña.Tres años después, ante la inminente muerte de Carlos II, el rey español, Luis XIV devuelve a España todos los territorios conquistados con el fin de posicionara su nieto Felipe de Anjou como heredero al trono español, dado que su abuela Mª Teresa de Austria, hermana de Carlos II, está casada con el rey francés.El emperador austriaco, Leopoldo I, no está de acuerdo y defiende, ayudado por Inglaterra, Holanda y Portugal entre otros, los derechos de su nieto Fernando José de Babiera, nieto de Margarita de Austria, que también es hermana del rey español.Finalmente Carlos II decanta su elección por Felipe de Anjou, futuro Felipe V, dando origen a sucesivas guerras en las que ambos bandos tienen triunfos y fracasos continuos.De estos fuegos se mantienen latentes los rescoldos que a lo de varios siglos llegan hasta nuestros días.Un repaso a la historia que recorre el fin de la Casa de Austria y el principio de la Casa Borbón en España.
