Las autoras ofrecen aportes para la comprensión específica y profunda respecto a las diferentes relaciones entre lenguaje y desarrollo matemático en población de educación preescolar y escolar, estableciendo estas asociaciones tanto a corto como a largo plazo. Todo ello, desde un punto de vista de las Ciencias Cognitivas, desde las cuales se muestran  los respectivos aportes empíricos. Asimismo, a lo largo de la revisión de la evidencia, buscan efectuar el establecimiento de relaciones entre los aportes de las investigaciones, confirmar algunos planteamientos e hipotetizar nuevas situaciones a la luz de aquellos estudios que difieren entre sí./Las investigaciones sobre la relación entre el desarrollo del lenguaje y los aprendizajes matemáticos permiten comprender de forma más integral el procesamiento matemático. Estos conocimientos permiten enriquecer las intervenciones en niños que presentan dificultades en el aprendizaje de las matemáticas, ayudándonos a entender cómo su nivel de desarrollo del lenguaje puede estar influyendo en dichas dificultades. Y por tanto, nos permite diseñar estrategias de intervención más adecuadas que consideren esta influencia del lenguaje. 10
