The necropolis of Puig des Molins (Ibiza) is one of the most significant Phoenician-Punic burial sites in the western Mediterranean. From the first official excavations carried out in 1903 by the ’Sociedad Arqueológica Ebusitana’, archaeologists, scholars and collectors excavated hundreds of tombs, whose grave goods enriched both the Archaeological Museum of Ibiza and various private collections. Among them, Antonio Vives y Escudero played a central role, conducting excavations between 1910 and 1914. However, his activity led to a conflict with the Museum of Ibiza over excavation rights, resulting in a prolonged legal dispute and the suspension of work at the site. This book analyses the documentation of the Vives y Escudero case preserved in the Archivo General de la Administración (AGA), shedding new light on a key episode in the history of Spanish archaeology. 6
