L’invecchiamento della popolazione è un fenomeno mondiale, che richiede attenzione perché la senescenza causa un declino delle funzioni fisiche, che può portare alla dipendenza. L’attività fisica sembra essere uno strumento per minimizzare o addirittura rimediare alle incapacità funzionali, come la danza. Lo scopo di questo studio è stato quello di analizzare gli effetti di un programma di danza con movimenti simili alle attività della vita quotidiana sulla risposta funzionale degli anziani. Hanno partecipato allo studio 59 anziani, con un’età media di 68±4 anni. I risultati hanno mostrato cambiamenti positivi significativi nella forza degli arti inferiori (aumento del 25%) e superiori (24%), nella resistenza aerobica (21%) e nell’equilibrio (15%). Per quanto riguarda la flessibilità, non c’è stata una differenza statisticamente significativa (p≤0,05), ma è stata mantenuta. Concludiamo che il programma di danza funzionale ha promosso il mantenimento e l’aumento significativo delle funzioni motorie degli anziani.
