Obviamente, a utilização generalizada de antibióticos no tratamento de infecções bacterianas levou à disseminação de estirpes resistentes, pelo que precisamos de encontrar uma fonte de substâncias bioactivas que possam possuir um amplo espetro de atividade quando combinadas com antibióticos para poderem resistir ao microrganismo patogénico.
