读麦，就是阅读麦克卢汉，简写成'读麦'，是我模仿蒙古歌手独有的技巧'呼麦'编造的一个词，就算是发挥麦克卢汉所推崇的听觉思维吧。麦克卢汉是加拿大的传播学理论家和英语文学教授，以格言'媒介即信息'而闻名，他影响巨大的著作有《谷登堡群星》（1962）、《理解媒介：人的延伸》（1964）和《媒介即信息》（1967）。五六十年来，围绕麦克卢汉颇多争议，追随者奉他为先知，反对者贬他为巫师，他的理论热了冷、冷了热，他的文字很多人都说复杂难懂。那么，到了移动互联网的今天，我们应该怎样读麦呢？麦氏从电子媒介中看到了电子信息的光电速度，由这样的实时信息看到了日后互联网的许多特征，比如由果及因、听觉模式的复兴、人人卷入人人、人的天使化等等等等。从互联网开始倒带播放信息史，一是看印刷史、看书写史、看字母表的历史，这样就不难理解'媒介即信息'，就不难反省互联网的种种现象；再就是看麦氏的预言，哪些兑现了哪些没有兑现，思考为什么没有兑现。
